The Story Behind Butcher’s Gold

The Story Behind Butcher’s Gold

Great jerky doesn’t need shortcuts.

Butcher’s Gold started with a pretty simple idea: make the kind of jerky we actually wanted to eat.

Not something engineered to taste like a dozen different ingredients. Not meat buried beneath sugar, sauces, artificial flavors, and unnecessary fillers. Just quality meat, thoughtfully chosen ingredients, bold seasoning, and a process that respects what jerky is supposed to be.

That simple idea became Butcher’s Gold.

Let the Meat Be the Star

Jerky has been around for centuries for a reason. At its core, it’s remarkably simple: preserve quality meat, season it well, and create something flavorful, portable, and satisfying.

We believe there's something worth preserving about that simplicity.

Every Butcher’s Gold recipe starts with the meat. From there, we build flavor around it—not over it.

Cracked black pepper brings warmth and bite. Garlic adds a deep savory character. Turmeric contributes an earthy richness and unmistakable golden color. As we develop new recipes, the ingredients may change, but the philosophy doesn't:

If an ingredient doesn't make the jerky better, it doesn't need to be there.

Simple Ingredients. Serious Flavor.

“Simple” doesn't mean boring.

Some of the best flavors come from ingredients people have cooked with for generations. Pepper. Garlic. Chiles. Spices. Ingredients with history, character, and a reason for being there.

We take that same approach when developing every Butcher’s Gold flavor. We aren't interested in adding ingredients just because everyone else does.

We'd rather start with less and get it right.

That means experimenting with recipes, adjusting seasoning, testing texture, and refining each batch until the balance is where we want it.

Because when you're working with simple ingredients, every one of them matters.

Crafted in Texas

Butcher’s Gold is a Texas company, and that means something to us.

Texas has a long history built around cattle, ranching, agriculture, independence, craftsmanship, and people who take pride in producing something with their own hands.

We're proud to carry a little of that mentality into what we make.

Not because we're trying to manufacture a Texas image—but because this is home.

As Butcher’s Gold grows, we want to continue building relationships with Texas ranchers, farmers, producers, retailers, and other businesses while exploring ingredients and products that tell more of that story.

More Than Beef

Beef will always be an important part of Butcher’s Gold, but it isn't the limit of what we're building.

We're developing turkey jerky and exploring additional meats, cuts, flavors, and products that fit the same philosophy.

That creates an opportunity to do something much bigger than simply make another bag of jerky.

We want people to experience different meats, different cuts, and different ingredients—and understand a little about where their food comes from along the way.

Eventually, that means exploring more of the animal rather than focusing only on the easiest or most familiar cuts. There is a long tradition of using the whole animal, and we believe there's something valuable about bringing that respect and resourcefulness back into modern food.

Why “Butcher’s Gold”?

Gold has always represented something valuable.

For us, Butcher’s Gold isn't about being fancy. It's about having a standard.

A standard for the meat we choose.

A standard for the ingredients we use.

A standard for the flavors we develop.

And a standard for what we're willing to put our name on.

We're still growing. We're still experimenting. And there are a lot of things we want to create that haven't made it into a bag yet.

But the standard doesn't change.

Quality meat. Simple ingredients. Bold flavor. No shortcuts.

That's Butcher’s Gold.

The Gold Standard in Texas Jerky.
